About Katherine McDonald, PhD, FAAIDD:
Katherine E. McDonald, PhD, FAAIDD; is a Professor and Program Director of Public Health in the Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics at Syracuse University, and a fellow in the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AAIDD). Dr. McDonald uses ecological theory and social action research to understand and promote health and well-being among people with disabilities and ethical, legal and social issues in research with adults with intellectual disability.
Ethical Issues in Intellectual and Developmental Disability: A History of the Disability Rights Movement, Guardianship and Community Living
Dr. McDonald will discuss ethical issues affecting the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities; including key aspects of the disability rights movement, rights to community living, education, work, and decision-making. She will also facilitate a response panel on the perspective and legal rights of people with disabilities.
