TOPS Peer Mentor Information

Are you a current OSU student who is interested in service learning while earning additional credit hours? If so, TOPS has a perfect opportunity for you!

The TOPS service learning/internship opportunity is offered through the Disability Studies 5191: Disabilities Internship course. Interns will serve in one or more of the following capacities:

  • Educational Coach, whose responsibilities include providing academic support to TOPS students in a college classroom, encouraging the students to actively participate in class, and assisting with social skills and advocacy when needed.
  • Tutor, who works in the TOPS Academic Center and provides academic supports to TOPS students outside of the classroom.
  • Social Coach, who provides support in TOPS social activities on campus and in the community.
  • In-Class Mentor, whose responsibilities include supporting TOPS students in acquiring skills needed to be successful in college and in life during the TOPS-only Student Learning Communities (SLCs).
