What is the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC)?

The Work Opportunity Tax Credit is a federal tax credit available to employers for hiring individuals from certain target groups who have consistently faced significant barriers to employment. WOTC helps targeted workers move from economic dependency into self-sufficiency as they earn a steady income and become contributing taxpayers.

Participating employers may be able to reduce their income tax liability by $1,200 to $9,600, depending on the employee hired.

You can find more information about the WOTC by visiting the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services website.

How can I Get Involved?

Interested employers should contact Ashlee Leslie, Disability Career Specialist, for more information.

Other opportunities include being an interviewer for mock interviews, supporting students with informational interviews and having students job shadow at your place of business.
