COLUMBUS, OHIO – The U.S. Administration on Community Living, Office on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities has awarded The Ohio State University Nisonger Center $3 million over 5 years in renewed funding to support the Nisonger Center, a University Center for Excellence for Developmental Disabilities. This grant will support the Nisonger Center’s tripartite mission of research, clinical services, and education/training focused on improving the life outcomes and quality of life of people with disabilities by empowering and supporting all people with developmental disabilities and their families. Marc J. Tassé (Principal Investigator) is pleased to have received this new grant “This continued funding will be leveraged to support our faculty, staff, and students engaged in our four core priority areas: (1) community inclusion of people with developmental disabilities through the creation, implementation, and dissemination of effective supports for education and learning across the lifespan, (2) evidenced-based services and supports that enhance employment, community engagement, and interdependent living outcomes for individuals with intellectual disability or developmental disabilities and their families, (3) promotion of health/well-being and access to quality health care services for people with disabilities, and (4) treating and reducing co-occurring psychiatric disorders/behavioral health in people with intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder, or related neurodevelopmental disorders.”
