Who should take this course?
Anyone who wants to know more about the field of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) can take this course. Our Orientation Program was designed for new employees in Ohio's County Board system, but we enroll employees of private providers as well as individual members of the community.
Please Note: This course is intended for new employees in the field of IDD and meets the definition of “orientation program” in the Ohio Administrative Code. This orientation should not be confused with an "Intro to IDD" college course. It is not offered for academic credit and does not meet the definition of "course" in the Ohio Administrative Code. Therefore, it does not fulfill certification requirements.
What are the advantages of our course?
- Employees can still perform their regular duties while participating in orientation
- Students learn at their own pace
- The course is standardized and comprehensive
- We offer expert instruction and quality control with two tests
- The course is interactive with class email and office hour chat rooms
- Our course is endorsed by the Ohio Association of County Boards of MR/DD
How long does it take to complete the course?
Students have access to the course for a 16-day time period, 24 hrs per day.
How much does it cost?
The tuition for this course is currently $145 per person. As of July 1, 2008, tuition for this course will increase to $190 per person as a result of an increase in our vendor fees.
If you have any questions about this increase, please feel free to contact Nisonger Administrator Maureen Meck at Maureen.Meck@osumc.edu or course instrcutor Jillian Ober at Ober.7@osu.edu.
