Education
Luc Lecavalier graduated from the Université du Québec à Montréal (Québec, Canada) in 2001 with a Ph.D. in Psychology. He then completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His Bachelors (Psychology) was from the University of Ottawa (Ontario, Canada).
Research
Dr. Lecavalier is interested in diagnosis and measurement and behavior/psychiatric problems in individuals with intellectual disability and/or autism spectrum disorders. He has authored or co-authored more than thirty scholarly publications. In 2008, he was recipient of the Early Career Awards given by the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AAIDD) and Division 33 of the American Psychological Association (APA).
Service
Dr. Lecavalier has taught at undergraduate and graduate levels and served on a number of thesis and dissertation committees. He regularly reviews for scientific journals and is a member of the Editorial Board for the Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders and Journal of Mental Health Research in Intellectual Disabilities. He is Director of the Child Unit of Behavior Support Services at the Nisonger Center.
