Welcome to the B-HIP Web Page!
What is B-HIP?
The Be Healthy Information Program (B-HIP) is an informational program designed for children and adults with disabilities. B-HIP, developed through a collaborative effort between the University of South Florida and the Ohio State University Nisonger Center, is intended to help children and adults with disabilities understand the relationship between living a healthy lifestyle, feeling good, and staying healthy.
The program consists of a series of six colorful brochures available in English and Spanish:
- Nutrition: MyPlate and Living Healthy
- Physical Activity: Getting Fit for Life
- Sleep Matters: How to Help Your Kids Sleep
- For the Mouth of Babes: The Importance of Early Oral Hygiene
- Mouth Matters: Oral Health for People with Disabilities
- Abuse, Neglect, & Exploitation: How to Protect Yourself
These brochures are designed to stimulate thought, encourage discussion, and provide essential information to help people with disabilities live safe and healthy lives within the community.
Electronic copies of the brochures are available on this webpage for download and printing purposes. For additional questions regarding the program, or material distribution and availability, please contact:
Susan Havercamp, Ph.D.
While supplies last, printed copies of the B-HIP brochures are available to healthcare providers free of charge, and come with a brochure display case. We only ask that you display the brochures in an area visible to patients or the public and complete the program evaluation below.
If you are using the B-HIP materials, we ask that you complete a brief evaluation of our materials so that we may continue to improve the program in the future. The evaluation can be completed online at: www.surveymonkey.com/s/B-Hip or by printing and mailing the form to Susan Havercamp at the address listed above.
