Education
The Occupational Therapy program is an entry-level masters' program. We also have an advanced masters and doctoral program in the School. I teach at all levels. My entry level courses include research, pediatrics, and school-based practice. I also provide lectures on assistive technology for children with disabilities. At the advanced masters level I teach early intervention and school-based occupational therapy courses. In the PhD program, I teach evidence based practice and qualitative research.

Research
My research focus is preschool assessment and school-based interventions. I have completed two outcomes studies examining the effects of school-based occupational therapy services. These studies focused on children's progress in fine motor skills and handwriting when receiving occupational therapy services. I am collecting data to validate an assessment that measures preschool children's visual-motor, motor planning, in-hand manipulation, bilateral coordination, and dynamic grasping patterns as they perform functional school tasks. I have also completed research on families' experiences in caregiving for children with significant medical problems and developmental disability. In this line of research, I use qualitative methodology.

Service
Through the LEND program, I provide occupational therapy evaluation services in the Nisonger Center Family Directed Clinic, which is a diagnostic clinic for young children. Recommendations for the team that serves this clinic are family and child focused. I provide professional services through School, College and University committee membership. I chair an ad hoc committee on outcomes for the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) (2007). I am the author/editor for the AOTA Autism Evidence Based Practice project (2007).
